Earth Day:
Earth Day began on April 22, 1970, and has been an important day ever since. it’s a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to help them keep healthy. Children have the most important stake in keeping our planet healthy. To enhance the knowledge of the children in ways of protecting and saving our planet Earth, Earth Day was celebrated in G.D. Goenka Public School on 20th April.
Activities on Earth Day:
Various activities were planned in order to impart the knowledge in a fun learning way. Classes Pre-Nursery to Grade II did balloon printing of Earth and made their individual cards writing their Earth day promise of keeping our blue planet happy. Videos depicting what causes harm to our planet were shown to the children and emphasizing how we should avoid doing such things as throwing waste in rivers, wasting water, by cutting down trees etc. Children were apprised about the Three R’s:- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and how effectively we can bring small changes to our lifestyle and contribute big time in saving our Earth.
At the end of the day, our children pledged to take care of the planet. The Earth day is not one day of celebration but instead a reminder of what we should be doing every day. Save Earth Save Life!
The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. It remains the largest civic engagement event in human history. Led by Earth Day Network, more than 1 billion people in over 190 countries take action on Earth Day, making it the world’s largest civic event.
We work year-round on solutions that address environmental challenges from mitigating and adapting to climate change and global warming, to ending plastic pollution and protecting endangered species. We work to broaden and diversify the environmental movement by mobilizing people, communities, businesses and elected leaders across the globe.
