Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations @ GD Goenka Public School ‘A Tribute to the Father of the Nation’
On 1st October 2024, GD Goenka Public School, Lucknow, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great enthusiasm and reverence. Students participated in various creative activities, learning about the values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi in an engaging and meaningful way.
The youngest learners of our school—Toddlers, Nursery, and LKG, came together to craft monkey puppets, symbolizing Gandhi Ji’s three wise monkeys: “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil.” This hands-on activity allowed the little ones to understand the importance of good behavior, kindness, and morality, fostering positive values in a playful manner.
The UKG students participated in a special worksheet activity where they learned about the significant objects associated with Gandhi Ji, such as his charkha, spectacles, and walking stick. By exploring these items, the children were able to connect with Gandhi Ji’s simple lifestyle and his message of self-reliance and truthfulness.
Students of Grade 1 and 2 demonstrated their creativity by making tricolor bookmarks representing the colors of the Indian flag: saffron, white, and green. Each student decorated their bookmark with a famous quote by Mahatma Gandhi, further deepening their understanding of his teachings on peace, non-violence, and unity.
Through these thoughtfully curated activities, the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti provided students with a deeper connection to the ideals and values of Mahatma Gandhi. The event helped instill a sense of respect for Gandhi Ji’s legacy, while also encouraging the students to reflect on the importance of truth, peace, and non-violence in their lives.
