GD Goenka Public School Celebrates India’s Chandrayaan 3’s Epic Descent to the Moon:-
Today’s date will be etched in history forever as India became the first country to have its Chandrayaan-3’s Lander Module (LM) – lander Vikram and rover Pragyan touched the South Pole of the Moon and the fourth nation in the world to have successfully landed on Moon. India has reached a milestone in its ambitious lunar exploration program as the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Vikram lander successfully landed on the lunar surface on August 23, 2023.
To celebrate this historic victory, GD Goenka Public School Lucknow in association with CBSE Sahodaya Schools’ Complex Lucknow, organized an open-for-all event to witness this unique experience. The event featured the live telecast of Chandrayaan 3’s landing on a huge projector screen, captivating talks by Astronomers and Astrophysicists’ and interactive sessions to engage the audience in meaningful discussions about space exploration’s impact on our nation’s progress. It also gave an opportunity to excite and teach the next generation about the wonders of science and technology, as well as a venue to recognize India’s extraordinary achievements in space exploration.
To maximize the experience of our students, an agency named Labrynthe set up telescopes for lunar and planetary observations in GD Goenka Public School Lucknow on 23 August 2023 from 04:30 pm onwards. This provided a unique opportunity for our students and all the attendees to witness the Moon and planets up close and deepen their understanding of space.
Students from more than 20 schools in the city participated in this event. Most of the students were accompanied by their parents. Principals of renowned schools and teachers were also present on the occasion to cheer for India’s accomplishment. The chairman of GD Goenka School Lucknow Shri Sarvesh Goel was also present with the students to witness this important event.
The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble District Magistrate of Lucknow Shri Surya Pal Gangwar, along with many other dignitaries of the city. On the success of India’s Moon Mission, he addressed the students and motivated them to study hard and do something for the country like the scientists from ISRO did and make the nation proud.
On this momentous occasion, the excitement of students knew no bounds, Shreya Verma of class XI said, “It is unbelievable, we have become the first country to land on the South Pole of the Moon. What an achievement! So proud of our country and team ISRO”.
Samriddhi Gulati, a student of class VII expressed her joy in these words, “We never knew that this Chandrayaan Mission 3 is so big until we watched it live and witnessed the efforts of the ISRO team. Our Prime Minister’s words encouraged us a lot…now Chanda Mama dur ke nahi..bas ek tour ke”.
Yuvraj Singh, a student of class XII and Head-Boy of the school said that he is extremely proud of his country and salutes the efforts and dedication of our country’s scientists who have brought India to the forefront of the world in the field of space research.
A student of class VI, Vivaan Mishra, was exclaiming with pride and said, “What a historic moment! We all were waiting with bated breath about the landing of Chandrayaan 3, and we have eventually succeeded. I also wish to be a scientist and make my country proud one day”.
Together, everyone was overjoyed to witness this remarkable achievement live in the presence of so many eminent personalities. The students cheered to the core when they saw the landing of Vikram Lander on the Moon. It was an epic experience for all. We believe that experiences like these not only enrich our students’ knowledge but also ignite their curiosity and passion for science and technology.
