Goenkans Practised The Art Of Teamwork Through ‘orchestra Activity’ Organised At Gd Goenka Public School:-
To help kids understand the mode of working of musicians we at GD Goenka Public School conducted an interactive Orchestra Activity along with students on 16th July. We made students understand that an Orchestra is a large instrumental ensemble that combines instruments from different families such as string instruments, woodwinds, brass instruments, percussion, and other instruments such as piano, concert harp, electronic instruments, and guitars each grouped in sections. The actual number of instruments/ musicians employed in a given performance may vary, depending on the work being played and the size of the venue. Students were further made
to understand that orchestras are usually led by a conductor who directs the performance with movements of the hands and arms, often made easier for the musicians to see by the use of a conductor’s baton.
All class teachers selected a rhyme or a song and practiced the rhythm for a week in advance and performed together in a group on 16th July. Teachers helped children create music by homemade sound boxes, tapping their hands on the table or by any piece of stick, a glass of water, cutlery, containers, etc. Students and teachers enjoyed playing different homemade musical instruments online and produced sounds soothing to their ears and rhyming to the songs they love to listen to. Students connected immediately with the music and remain excited during the entire session. This activity helped students develop team building, working in a team, and achieving a common goal/
objective.
